Southwest Family Services was founded in 1982 to help individuals and families gain easier access to counseling services. Counseling is provided by over 20 independent licensed therapists conveniently located throughout the Twin Cities  who specialize in treating a wide range of mental health issues.
      
      Our affiliated therapists offer day, evening, and weekend appointment  hours with quick and easy access to therapists at convenient locations. By working with Southwest Family Services, you will be directly connected to a therapist where you can receive mental health services for young and school-age children, adolescents, families, couples, and individual adults. Specialty services such as psychological testing, ADD and ADHD child and adult assessments, career counseling and help with the psychological aspects of pain management and chronic illness are available.

     Our network of licensed therapists offer treatment for depression,  anxiety, self-esteem and body image, eating disorders, grief and loss, anger management and other conditions with significant emotional distress.  While treatment philosophies vary, the focus of care is always to help clients function more happily and effectively at work, school, home, and  in their primary relationships. Patients are encouraged to actively participate in their treatment and join with their therapist to acquire understanding and make changes.
       
     When we make a referral, we will also try match you to a provider covered  under your insurance plan. Our affiliated therapists accept most types of  insurance which include Blue Cross and Blue Shield of MN, United  Behavioral Health, Medica, and United Healthcare insurance plans as well  as other insurance and selected managed care plans. Many therapists we  work with specialize in helping individuals who are referred by or covered under Employee Assistance Programs sponsored by local companies.
